A Director's Guidance

Sandi Henschel (director) starts working with some cast members on their characters.

Sandi had the cast come to her home for several hours a week ago to watch Ken Burns three-part, six-hour series on the Holocaust. It was a time to get to know each other better on a social level but more importantly contextualize the scenes in the play.

During this session, Sandi did one-on-one coaching with the actors. With some of them she demonstrated how certain lines should be emphasized. With others she discussed motivation and perspective for a particular monologue. And with each actor Sandi helped them draw on personal experiences that connected them to their characters.
